Atlas Genius rolled through the JBTV studio on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 for the second time. These cool Aussie dudes performed their hits If So and Trojans, as well as some tunes off their recent album like The City We Grow and Stockholm, to a crowd of enthusiastic AG fans. As opposed to their cool acoustic set for their last appearance on JBTV this time Atlas Genius played electric.
With two Billboard charted album under their belts, brothers Keith and Michael Jeffery; with support from bassist Alex Marans, and guitarist Blake Straus have been doing more rockin’ in the free world since their last JBTV visit in 2012. They’ve been on a great deal of tours all while releasing their sophomore album Inanimate Objects in August 2015.
Atlas Genius fans are some of the most passionate supporters around. While looking through the crowd during their set, there were plenty of smiling faces and lots of dancing. Longtime fan Nicole Getta, has seen the band four times and cites them as one of her favorite artists, “They bring back a lot of memories”, Getta said “from the concerts I’ve seen, things I’ve done while listening to their songs, and even an old friend whom I’ve lost touch with but still means the world to me.” Although she really likes their latest album, Getta says that their debut When It Was Now is one of her all time favorites.
Speaking with Jerry after the show, lead singer Keith Jeffery said about one of the band’s biggest hit, “Trojans, especially, has been a song that a lot of people over the years have told me has gotten them through a hard time… Which is funny because you don’t think about that when you’re writing a song, but it’s nice to help them in some small way.”
It’s no secret that the Atlas Genius dudes are not only talented musicians but also great guys in general! If you’re a festival-goer you should most definitely check them out at Firefly, BottleRock, Shaky Knees, or Hangout Fest this summer! We hope to see more of Atlas Genius soon and hopefully they’ll come back to the JBTV stage for round three.
