Following her killer show at Metro on Saturday night, Lydia Loveless took the JBTV stage early on Sunday afternoon to play a six song set to an energetic crowd including Real, Same To You, and Longer. After her performance, Lydia headed back to our interview room to chat with Jerry about her current tour, growing up home-schooled with a musician and a hippie, and how living near a farm inspired her to be a vegan.
Lydia revealed that the highlights of touring this year included opening up for Drive By Truckers, and she told the stories behind each of the songs performed. The song Same To You expresses the feelings of frustration with band members on a long tour stretch, which seems fitting given that Lydia and her band have been on the road for the last two months. Lydia calls Out On Love the most fun to record vocally, and divulges that the song features a power drill manipulated to sound like a keyboard.
While Lydia walks Jerry through her writing and recording process, she admits she prefers to use older amps and she’s rebuilt her favorite amp four times. Before heading out, Lydia took the time to sign some exclusive JBTV posters and set-lists.
