What better way to spend a Monday lunch break than rocking out with L.A. natives, The Peach Kings? Prior to opening up for the legendary Cyndi Lauper, power-duo Paige Woods and guitarist Steven Dies along with drummer ‘Tubby Malone’ stopped by JBTV to deliver an intimate performance featuring songs from their debut EP Mojo Thunder along with some exclusive, unreleased tracks.
The chemistry between Woods and Dies was undeniable, and set the mood for a sultry and energetic show. The duo has been playing together for six years, and started with guitar and vocals before adding Malone to the mix for a new sound. The group began their set with an unreleased track titled Dumb Luck, and captured the audience’s attention from the minute they began.
“It’s a good tale of where we’re at right now,” Dies said about the track. Between their raw vibe and riotous stage presence, The Peach Kings kept fans engaged throughout their show, playing fan favorites including their EP title track Mojo Thunder and Like A Stone. Their passion and energy were contagious as the played an ode to their romance; Sweet Like You, which has Spanish guitar influences, Woods said.
Chicago native, Jenna Cohen, made it out for her first JBTV show after recently discovering The Peach Kings, and described herself as an “instant fan” after the “steamy and impressive” performance.
The Peach Kings wrapped up their show with an old favorite, Fisherman, which was one their first releases back in 2012. The band is ecstatic to be continuing their tour with Cyndi Lauper before heading out on their own tour beginning in early July, You don’t want to miss them back in Chicago on the 23rd!
