In between some of their more well-known tracks, the Cali surf punks known as WAVVES brought out a deep-ish cut during their 2013 set at JBTV: the salty chew-out “Bug” from their 2011 EP Life Sux. WAVVES songs are surf and skate-centric packed in a smoky  cloud of lo-fi fuzz…in beyond the best way. This band is both the smoke and the munchies.

Hailing from San Diego, and named as an homage to Nathan Williams’ fear of the ocean, WAVVES is made up of founder, lead vocalist and guitarist Williams, guitarist Alex Gates, bassist Stephen Pope, and drummer Brian Hill.

During its 8 years as a band, WAVVES, hailed as DIY darlings by many an Internet corner, has zigged and zagged with a few changes in line-up and has had relationships with several record companies, including Woodsist, Fat Possum and Warner Bros. The band just released its fifth album in 2015, entitled V.

WAVVES plays Bug above!

Lyrics

You’re such a bug on me, man

You’re such a drag on everyone

You’re such a burned out zombie

You always suck out all the fun

You’re no fun

You’re no fun

You’re no fun

You’re just dumb

You’re no fun

You’re always crashing parties

You’re always crashing someone’s car

You’re always crashing at the new girl’s place

Until she finds out who you are

You’re no fun

You’re no fun

You’re no fun

You’re just dumb

You’re no fun

No, you’ll never get it all

Not in this world

See the writing on the wall

You’re no fun

No, you’ll never get it all

Not in this world

See the writing on the wall

Not in this world

No, you’ll never get it all

Not in this world

See the writing on the wall

You’re no fun
