JBTV is excited to be hosting 3 in-studio Residency shows with one of our favorite Chicago Artists Jay O’Rourke to preview his entire new CD “SUMPTHIN’ GOOD”.
The first of these performances will be July 27th for Jay O’Rourke’s 4th solo CD – “SUMPTHIN’ GOOD”
The recordings were done quickly between 3/18 – 5/18, and have songs that were played live for months in advance of recording, to get that “Live” feel. Jay’s regular band – Grant Tye (Robbie Fulks, Dick Holliday, Michael McDermott, Cathy Richardson) – Ed Breckenfeld (Jim Peterik, Insiders, Cathy Richardson), Frank Raven (Slammin’ Watusis, Bohemia, Luck 3 Blues Band) – Klem Hayes (Jim Peterik, Dick Holiday, Michael McDermott) play on every song.
The record is a “Blues/Rock” stripped down affair in the tradition of the great “Blues/Rock” records of the 60’s and 70’s. There are also modern Garage Rock elements made popular in the last 15 years. All of these influences are combined with a record made in Chicago (the home of electric blues). This record is all bluesy guitars and screaming electric Harp. Jay’s voice sounds like someone who has “lived the life” for many years, and that is true.
The record is produced by Jay (Warren Zevon, Urge Overkill, Trip Shakespeare, Slammin’ Watusis, Robbie Fulks, Material Issue, Liz Phair, Insiders, Epic Records, A & M Records, Geffen Records, Alligator Records, etc.) Mixed by Mike Tholen (George Thorogood, Buddy Guy, Magic Slim, Los Lobos) recorded by Teddy Thornhill, and Mastered By Dave McNair (Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Patti Smith, Los Lobos, etc).
Doors open at 7:30pm. Performance starts at 8:00pm.
